ASSIP flex

Attempted Suicide Short Intervention Program

A brief therapy for people after a suicide attempt

ASSIP flex is a brief therapy for individuals following a suicide attempt, proven to reduce the risk of further suicidal behavior by nearly 80%. The program consists of only 3 to 4 sessions conducted in the familiar living environment of the affected individuals, followed by long-term follow-up over several years.

What makes ASSIP flex unique?

  • ASSIP is an additional offer, not a replacement.
  • The therapy is brief, has a simple structure, and clear goals.
  • ASSIP will not cure patients of suicidality, but it will help them remain able to act during future suicidal crises.
  • The project is conducted in collaboration with the PGV project funding from Health Promotion Switzerland.
  • ASSIP Home Treatment has been offered in the canton of Bern since 2021.
  • It has been implemented in the cantons of Zurich, Vaud, and Neuchâtel since 2022.
  • In 2024, ASSIP Home Treatment will become ASSIP flex.
